On July 13, 2014 at approximately 1800 hours, 4th Battalion Chief Scott Mizen and his son - Charlie - was swimming at Beech Bluff Lake.

Scott noticed a man trashing about in the water with a small child.  Apparently the man had slipped off a ledge and was in water approximately 8-9 feet deep.

Scott swam out to both, the gentleman was in a state of panic trying to use a plastic toy life ring, with his son in it, but was causing both to go under.

At this point, Scott dove under both, and while holding his breath, and holding up the man, walked them back to shollow water where the man could stand on his own.

Scott was hit several times, in the man's state of panic, and could feel the bruses the next day.
